Rivers of the Lamprey Watershed Nominated
to the New Hampshire
Rivers Management and Protection Program
Public Hearing to be Held Tuesday, August 31 at 7 pm

The Lamprey River from Northwood to Great Bay, the North Branch River, the Pawtuckaway River, the North River, the Little River and the Piscassic River all have been determined to be special and worthy of recognition through this state program. Currently, only the Lamprey River in the towns of Lee and Durham are designated. This nomination seeks designated status for the remaining portions of the Lamprey and the major tributaries. Come learn why this rivers are special and about the Rivers Management and Protection Program.

Enter the 2010 Lamprey River Watershed Photo Contest
Send your picture of a location in the watershed with a photo title, your name, and contact information. Pictures of the rivers, historic places, wildlife, etc. are welcomed. All seasons. Permission requested to use photo entries with LRWA publications with photo credit given. Winner to be selected by popular vote at the 2010 LRWA Annual meeting in November 3.

Media Assistance - Volunteer needed to assist with either website updates, publications and press releases, or promotional events. Work from home.
Stormwater Watchers - Keep your eyes open for culverts entering the Lamprey River or tirbutaries that are clogged with debris, carrying pollutants, or in need of a larger size pipe to alleviate flooding.
Board Member Opening - Northwood representative and several at-large members needed. All backgrounds welcome to provide a diverse perspective on assisting our non-profit watershed organization that is current and relevant to what watershed residents need and want to know.

Vermont’s own Rain Garden Manual: Gardening to Absorb the Storm
and the accompanying plant list are available for free to anyone who is
interested in protecting our local rivers and lakes through gardening. This
twenty page, full color Manual includes step-by-step instructions on rain
garden design and installation; five creative planting plans; information
about curb-cut rain gardens (perfect for urban streetscapes); a rain garden
plant list (including 150 plants suitable for Vermont rain gardens), and an
explanation of how rain gardens are compatible with the Vermont Stormwater
Management Manual.
The manual and plant list can be downloaded for
